CAVE TRAINING FREQUENT QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Q:
Can I do the NITROX course during the the Cave Diver course? A. Yes. But you need four more days of training dives. Q. Can I use any equipment configuration for your cave class? A. No. I require HOGARTHIAN configuration, but for side mount courses you must contact me for more details. Hogarthian is the base and principle of DIR. Q. Can I obtain the NAUI or CMAS Cave I, II, III certification once I complete the NSS/CDS or NACD program? A. Yes. If you complete the Apprentice Cave level you can obtain the NAUI Cave I level, and/or if you complete the full cave diver level you can apply for the CMAS Level II. Since these are programs completely different you must have to spend an extra hour to review the required standards for those organizations. Q. Can I do a crossover from GUE to NACD or NSS/CDS? A. Yes, but you may need to complete extra time underwater, standards and procedure review, skills assessment, and complete a written exam. Q. Is all training conducted in Cozumel island? A. Yes, we have plenty of caves with all types of conditions, but if you want to be trained on the Rivera Maya it is not a problem, and will NOT increase the cost of the program. Q. Do you recommend a particular reading material for my cave class? A. During your training you will obtain a student workbook but I will highly recommend you the NSS/CDS Cave Diving Manual or the Art of Safe Cave Diving from the NACD. Another good reading source is the NAUI Cave I and Cave II manual, is very well written. Q. Do I need a dry suit for my cave training? A. No. the water temp is 77 F equal to 25 C, it is too warm! Q. Is it required to have your own cave diving equipment for training? A. No. I have all the equipment for you, but I will highly recommend you to get your own cave equipment. Q. What is the best season of the year to complete cave diving training? A. All year around we have conditions for cave diving. Q. Do I need to have DAN insurance before my cave training? A. Yes. You need to have DAN or other equivalent insurance. We have two hiperbaric chambers in Cozumel for your safety. Q. While I am cave diving do you have another activity for my family, girlfriend, friends, etc? A. Yes. Our company also conducts snorkel tours in the Cenotes and the incredible reefs, plus we offer Mayan ruins and dry caves excursions. Q. Do I need to do an extra payment for the gas fills, tank rentals? A. No. Once you pay your class fee, all is included. No surprises. |
